International law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP Shareholder Jordan Grotzinger and Of Counsel Adam Siegler participated in the Beverly Hills Bar Associations Entertainment and IP, Internet & New Media sections Drone Law panel April 30, 2015, in Beverly Hills, California. The panel included Mike Rivard, CEO and founder of Radflight, a leading manufacturer and consultant in the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), or drone, business.

The panel discussion focused on current federal statutes, the proposed rules issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and new state and federal legislative activity with regard to UAS, commonly known as drones. The speakers provided an analysis of the rules for: (a) operations by governmental agencies pursuant to a Certificate of Authorization; (b) commercial operations pursuant to exemptions from the existing regulations; and (c) the model aircraft exception for non-commercial use by hobbyists. In addition to discussing a variety of commercial uses for drones, including real estate and construction, advertising, and the future development of drone delivery services, the panel covered topics that are of particular interest to the Los Angeles market, such as aerial camera footage for film and television and the balancing of First Amendment and privacy rights.

Grotzinger is a business trial lawyer and co-chair of his offices litigation practice. He represents companies in the consumer products, real estate, entertainment, and other industries.

Siegler focuses his practice on civil litigation, with an emphasis on complex business cases and entertainment disputes. He has represented a wide variety of clients, from musicians, writers, and directors to major corporations in the real estate, telecommunications, and manufacturing fields. His litigation experience includes jury and bench trials in both state and federal courts, arbitrations, special proceedings, writs, and appeals.

International law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues expanding in the Bay Area, most recently through the addition of Paul Anthony Dash McLean, who joined as shareholder in the Silicon Valley office. McLean focuses his practice on trademark and copyright counseling, prosecution, and enforcement. He represents U.S. and international companies in various fields including in the technology, entertainment, media, and retail sectors.

Greenberg Traurig Represents Providence Apparel in Acquisition of Gerber Childrenswear

A multi-office team of attorneys at international law firm Greenberg Traurig represented Providence Apparel Inc. in its strategic acquisition of national apparel brand giant Gerber Childrenswear LLC from Sun Capital Partners, Inc., a Boca Raton private investment firm specializing in leveraged buyouts and investments in market-leading companies. Terms of the private transaction, which closed today, were not disclosed.

For Providence, the acquisition represents an opportunity to expand its significant retail product line. Gerber Childrenswear distributes infant and childrens apparel and related products under its flagship Gerber brand and the Onesies brand. Both brands are primarily distributed throughout North America in mass market and national retail chains. The company also markets infant and childrens apparel in department and specialty stores under licensed brands including Jockey for Kids, Lamaze and the National Football League.
