Two New Tellico Village Amenities Break Ground in Eastern Tennessee

Saturday, April 19th, 2014

Knoxville, Tennessee (PRWEB) April 03, 2014

Americas fastest growing sport is blazing the trails in Eastern Tennessee. Pickleball has been around since the mid 1960s and is popular with todays Baby Boomers because its physically easier than tennis and is more social. Players can easily talk with each other because of being closer to the net.

Keeping up with demands, eight lighted Pickleball courts are under construction at the Tellico Village Wellness Center. The Pickleball Club membership has grown quickly at Tellico Village, one of the best master-planned communities in Eastern Tennessee. In just five years, there are 350 Pickleball Club members with a waiting list to join the club. The Wellness Center land parcel is huge and has plenty of elbow room for new Tellico Village amenities. The proposed site plan includes 4 more Pickleball courts, 2 more tennis courts, an outdoor amphitheater, outdoor infinity edge pool, community gardens and Performing Arts Theater.

The new 4,000 square foot open-air pavilion at the Toqua golf course is staked out and will be completed by the early summer of 2014 according to Tellico Village. Bulldozers will be on the scene as early as next week. The pavilion is strategically located to capture the dramatic views of the 9th and 18th hole of the Toqua golf course. The renderings show covered dining, a sports bar, fireplace and a cozy outdoor living room. Long term plans at the Toqua golf course include a new golf clubhouse. The nearby Chota Recreational Center looked great with new modern paint colors, a new roof, new landscaping and new entry way to the outdoor pool deck.

All the new Tellico Village amenities were budgeted for, monies to be disbursed from reserves, and are being paid for without any new bank debt or special assessments per Tellico Village. In fact, Tellico Village has the lowest debt level of the last seven years and has the strongest reserve levels in seven years, a testament to Tellico Villages fiscally smart and frugal Board of Directors.

Real Estate Scorecard toured the Tellico Village Senior Living facility which is owned by Five Star Senior Living. The 87,000 square foot facility provides 24-hour nursing, assisted living and memory / Alzheimers care. Residents have the choice of independent living in one of 21 duplex homes or 40 studio apartments in the main facility. Expansion is planned adding 20 studio apartments and 30+ independent living duplex homes adjacent to the facility. Ground breaking is set for the summer of 2014.

The best master-planned community in Eastern Tennessee is a trendsetter when it comes to communication. Real Estate Scorecard met with NextDoor.com during the visit to learn about the private social network established at Tellico Village just over a year ago. Property owners can quickly get the word out about a break-in, organize a Neighborhood Watch Group, track down a trustworthy babysitter, find out who does the best paint job in town, ask for help keeping an eye out for a lost dog, or find a new home for an outgrown bike on the NextDoor network. Tellico Village also has its own private television channel (Channel 3) keeping Villagers informed and through Tell-E-Gram and Tell-Events newsletters.

The Tellico Villagers are pretty amazing group of folks who have had a dramatic impact on the local Loudon and Monroe County community. The word no is not typically in a Villagers vocabulary. We met with Shauna Oden of Habitat for Humanity, Tom Peck of Good Sheppard, Karen Bowdle of the Good Samaritan Center of Loudon County, Chris Evans-Longmire of Kids First Child Advocacy Center and Lynn Petr of STAR during our visit. These folks came out on a Sunday night to share with Real Estate Scorecard in depth, the involvement Tellico Villagers have in their organizations.

The common thread Real Estate Scorecard heard is that these non-profits truly believe they wouldnt be where they are today without Tellico Villagers. Through over 150,000 volunteer hours, fund raising efforts and by direct contributions. In fact, several of the organizations were started by Tellico Villagers. To give readers an idea of what these non-profits have accomplished and their impact each year:

LOUDON COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY – Hit a milestone on March 23, 2014 completing its 100th home. The organization has helped over 35,000 families since 1992. Loudon County Habitat for Humanity builds approximately 8 homes per year helping Loudon County families.

GOOD SHEPPARD CENTER OF MONROE COUNTY – Started in 1993, Good Sheppard provides food and clothing to over 2,500 people each month without financial assistance from the federal government. 80-90% of the volunteers are Tellico Villagers.

GOOD SAMARITAN CENTER OF LOUDON COUNTY – Founded in 1997, Good Samaritan is private non-profit assistance ministry serving the emergency needs of over 16,000 people in Loudon County. Assistance includes food, medical and dental care, clothing vouchers, and help with utility bills. Good Samaritan has over 200 volunteers and 60-75% are Tellico Villagers.

KIDS FIRST CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER – Founded in 2002 by three Tellico Villagers, Kids First CAC provided services to 300 victims of child abuse last year. The over-whelming majority of the children were victims of sexual abuse with the average victim an 8 year old female. They currently serve 22 schools and 4,750 students through their SCAN Program. Nine out of 12 members of the Board of Directors are Tellico Villagers.

STAR (Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding) – STAR works with individuals starting at age four to seniors with physical, mental and neurological disabilities or those considered at-risk. STAR provided 3,849 lessons for 205 participants in 2012. There are over 400 volunteers at STAR and 30% of them are Tellico Villagers.

Just through these five non-profits, they have positively impacted almost 60,000 struggling families in the local community last year. For too many reasons to list in this short community news update, Real Estate Scorecard was proud to present Tellico Village Real Estate Scorecards 2014 Bliss Award for The Happiest Community of the Year during their visit.

Tellico Village is a unquestionably a benchmark in the real estate industry and is a place buyers must see if they’re searching for the best places to live in the Southeast.

Tellico Village Soon to Celebrate 25 Years of Satisfaction in Eastern Tennessee

Tuesday, December 3rd, 2013

Knoxville, Tennessee (PRWEB) November 06, 2013

Real Estate Scorecard salutes Tellico Villages 25th Anniversary to be celebrated next month. The homeowners association (HOA) is excited to show the fellow Villagers their hard work. It is not an easy task to make everyone happy in a community, unless you are a Villager at Tellico Village in Loudon Tennessee.

One of the best Eastern Tennessee lake communities has an amazing homeowners association that manages to meet the needs of all of their residents. From resolving issues for the residents to organizing community celebrations at the exclusive Yacht Club, Tellico Village social clubs and the homeowners association are on the ball and happy to be of service.

As more families and retirees become owners of Loudon real estate, communities rely on their local homeowners associations to represent their residential needs. 50% of the residents are involved with the Tellico Village association and offer representation and provides efficient and organized strategies to ensure the best living situations in Tellico Village. The Tellico Villages homeowners association is comprised of a volunteer Board of Directors, several specialized committees and associate members. The homeowners association connects with the local government about relevant community issues, communicates affairs with residents and helps organize events with the Tellico Village social clubs. The homeowners association also works with the Property Owners Association which provides management of the infrastructure and amenities at Tellico Village.

The homeowners association is also responsible for maintaining a tight ship within the community. Not all Eastern Tennessee lake communities are like Tellico Village. Members of the homeowners association keep track of residential information, organize focus groups and collect resident surveys to ensure community satisfaction. The homeowners association also protects the best interests of Tellico Village. In February 2010, the Liaison Committee was created to help the Tellico Village Association during the construction of the Dam Safety Project. The association and the committee helped prevent adverse impacts against community landscapes and Loudon real estate, property values and ensure a positive working relationship with other groups, subcontractors and other organizations.

The homeowners association at Tellico Village support the Tellico Village social clubs. The homeowners association partners with the Tellico Village Garden Club on their recycling initiatives and environmental awareness efforts. The groups inform residents about the available Public Works Recycling Center or golf cart farm in Kahite and portions of proceeds support the maintenance of the 19 Tellico Village gardens. The homeowners association at Tellico Village does not stop there! The association works with other groups and supports nonprofit campaigns, law enforcement and medical issues concerning the Eastern Tennessee lake communities and stays connected about library and educational projects.

When the work is on pause, the association uses their time to organize special events for Tellico Village members. Along with other parties and activities, the homeowners association is preparing for the Tellico Village Annual Christmas Gala at the stunning, exclusive Yacht Club this year. It is the most wonderful time of the year when residents and members of the Tellico Village homeowners association can celebrate together and enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Hot Celebrity Home News: Hamptons Windmill, Tennessee NASCAR Castle, Kentucky Bourbon Mansion & Fiji Island Auction

Sunday, October 6th, 2013

Pompano Beach, Florida (PRWEB) September 19, 2013

This week, TopTenRealEstateDeals takes a look at Tennessees Crantzdorf Castle that includes a one-sixteenth scale version of the nearby Bristol Motor Speedway – reduced from $ 28.5 million to $ 4.3 million. Also, the 1925 mansion of the family that made Kentucky bourbon world famous is for sale at $ 5.5 million; an $ 8 million Hamptons home that was converted from a working windmill built by early Dutch settlers, and a Fiji Island compound that has hosted celebrities such as Steve Jobs, Rupert Murdoch, Tom Cruise and the Rolling Stones going to auction.

Hamptons $ 8 Million Windmill House

Its almost impossible not to be curious when seeing a windmill in such an unlikely place as the oceanside resort area of Amagansett in the Hamptons. Is it real, or did someone just decide they liked windmills and decided to copy one? In fact, this particular windmill is the real thing. Since it was built in the early 1830s, it was most likely built by the descendants of the first Dutch settlers in Amagansett. This formerly working windmill was used to provide power for the next door apple orchard, which still exists today.

In the 1950s, Faberge cosmetics founder Samuel Rubin bought the windmill and converted it into a home. At that time he had tennis courts and used the property to entertain friends. Many celebrities visited, played or rented there such as Alec Baldwin, Ralph Lauren, Marilyn Monroe, Arthur Miller and Kurt Vonnegut.

Though only 1,300 square feet with two bedrooms and one bath, the house does sit on 5.4 acres and is only a few minutes to both Napeague Bay and the ocean. The ground floor opens to an 18 by 18 hexagonal living space with wide plank hardwood floors and exposed beam ceilings and a stairwell with rope banister leads to the upper levels. Also on the main level are the kitchen, a bedroom and bath. The second floor of the windmill is the main bedroom and above that, the unfinished tower room that housed the wooden mechanical workings of the windmill’s sails, including a break that would stop them. Many parts of the original hand hewn works are still there.

Though some would want to build on the site, in its present state, the house makes a nice getaway and conversation piece for the millionaire who has everything . . .except a windmill. Historic Hamptons windmill house on 5.3 acres, priced at $ 7.9 million.

Tennessee Castle & Racetrack

Tennessees Crantzdorf Castle, a replica of Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander, Spain, and built by European craftsmen, is more than just another man cave for good old boys. It also sports a one-sixteenth scale version of the nearby Bristol Motor Speedway.

The castle was built by auto dealership owner, Steve Grindstaff, over a ten-year period, who apparently was torn between aspirations of grandeur and his deep seated affection for the backwoods bootlegging background of NASCAR. Having fulfilled his fantasy, Grindstaff was given a reality check by his wife, newly pregnant with twins, who pointed out that she had no intention of taking care of a 24,000 square foot house while chasing after babies.

In addition to the replica Bristol Motor Speedway, Crantzdorf Castle also has a 4,000 square foot climate controlled garage for the car collector, 22-foot entry doors imported from Paris, hand carved bar from England, stained glass windows, nine bedrooms, fourteen baths, huge fireplace, a pub, billiards room, finished basement and attic. There is an indoor basketball court, a swimming pool with lake view, covered veranda and gazebo. NASCAR fans castle originally priced at $ 28.5 million now $ 4.3 million.

Fiji Island Auction

David Gilmour, Canadian entrepreneur, rediscovered the Fijian island of Wakaya about 200 years after Captain Cook, and purchased it in 1973. It had been uninhabited for over 140 years when he arrived and he set about creating a luxurious tropical resort, Wakaya Club & Resort and a village and homes for islanders employed by the resort. For himself and his New Zealand born wife, Jill, he built the Rai Ki Wai (view over the sea) estate on a hilltop overlooking the island and ocean. Rai Ki Wai is going to auction on October 3rd.

Designed in colonial pavilion style, the home is a series of three pavilions connected by walkways, providing the ultimate in privacy when entertaining stay-over guests. The main living pavilion is 4,200 square feet with an open living room and bar area. The master bedroom pavilion is an impressive 5,000 square feet and there is a third double pavilion for guests. By way of a winding jungle path, owners and guests can access Homestead Bay Beach with amenities solely for the use of the owner such as BBQs, 12-seat tables, sun lounges, toilets and showers. Its the ideal spot to serve a feast cooked in a traditional Fijian Lovo.

Due to the remoteness of the island and the highly secured dock, airstrip and helipad, the location is attractive to royalty, celebrities and business leaders. Visitors to the Wakaya Club and Resort have included Prince Felipe of Spain, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Rupert Murdoch, George Lucas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Paris Hilton, Tom Cruise and the Rolling Stones. Bill Gates and his wife chose the resort as the location for their honeymoon.

One of Fiji’s largest estates with three homes plus guest homes and caretaker pavilion on 46 acres. Was $ 12 million. Selling Without Reserve.

Kentucky Bourbon House

Bourbon is an original American whiskey that evolved after the Revolutionary War. While other distillers in the eastern U.S. were using traditional rye, the Kentucky area was beginning to see its first settlers and only had leftover native corn to ferment into alcohol. Since land was freshly deforested for crops, stumps still remained, making it impossible to plant row crops requiring a plow. Early Kentuckians were forced to hand plant seeds around these tree stumps in order to produce a crop.

Whiskey was also an important medicine in the 1800s. George Garvin Brown was a pharmaceutical salesman in 1870 and heard many complaints from doctors that the quality of whiskey was unreliable. Sensing an opportunity, George joined his half-brothers whiskey firm to find a way to make the quality of medicinal bourbon consistent. This was the beginning of the production of the best Bourbon available, starting out as Old Forester, the first to be sold in glass bottles. The guarantee of high quality of the product established a reputation for the company which it has maintained through generations of whiskey fans.

For sale at $ 5.5 million for the first time since it was built in 1925 for the grandfather, Owsley Brown, The Avish, the original Brown family manor, is named after the familys ancestral home in Ireland. It sits on 24 acres and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After twentieth-century additions, the mansion now measures more than 17,695 square feet with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
