Wounded Warrior Run Raises $16,000 For The Walter Reed Warrior Family Coordination Cell

Saturday, August 2nd, 2014

Bethesda, Md. (PRWEB) June 10, 2014

Thanks to the efforts of nearly 600 runners and 80 student volunteers, LMT Inc. and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Student Spouses Club (SSC) presented a $ 16,000 donation to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Centers Warrior Family Coordination Cell.

On April 26, LMT Inc., a Vienna, Va.-based national security consulting firm, sponsored the 2nd Annual SSC Wounded Warrior Run at the Agricultural History Farm Park in Deerwood, Md.

We ran to care for those in harms way, said Lani Hay, President and CEO of LMT Inc. We ran for their families. And we ran to help those service members who have sacrificed so much and are working on getting well enough to return home from Walter Reed.

Its a cause deeply important and connected to LMT Inc., a mathematics optimization company that helps businesses and government transform otherwise ambiguous data into clear and actionable insight.

For the last decade, LMT Inc.’s team of analysts, many of which are military veterans themselves, have studied the narratives from the frontlines of military operations in Afghanistan to help predict and prevent military troops and civilian communities from getting hurt.

The race, which included a 5K, 10K and Kids Fun Run that wounded warriors and their families also participated in, was entirely organized and managed by volunteers from the Uniformed Services University (USU) of the Health Sciences and their significant others.

One hundred percent of the proceeds benefitted the Walter Reed National Military Medical Centers Warrior Family Coordination Cell.

We wanted to do something meaningful for our members and we couldnt think of a better organization to do that for, said Christine Kempsell, Race Director and spouse of a medical student at USU. We really couldnt have done it without the support of our sponsors and having LMT as the presenting sponsor took us to a whole new level.

The Warrior Family Coordination Cell serves as the central coordinating point between the military branches and commands for all non-medical support for the wounded, ill and injured military service members recovering on the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda campus.

That non-medical support includes working with patients and their families to provide opportunities for them to enjoy wholesome activities on and off the Walter Reed campus during their recovery and reintegration back into society after sustaining serious injuries or illnesses.

Since 2011, the coordination cell has helped manage more than half a million dollars in donated goods and services and coordinated and executed more than 4,700 events, including those at the White House, on Capitol Hill and with the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Thats more than Walter Reed Georgia Ave. and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth have done combined, and four times more than the National Naval Medical Center was accustomed to prior to the latest Base Realignment and Closure Commission decisions.

They also host weekly BBQs as a meet and greet for the families to get to know other, to get to know other people who are in the same situation as they are, Kempsell said.

Couldnt make the run? Donations are still accepted online.

Southern Thunder Harley-Davidsons Grand Re-Opening Party Raises More Than $110K for Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi

Thursday, July 17th, 2014

Southaven, MS (PRWEB) June 20, 2014

In spite of the rain, thousands of riders rallied at Southern Thunder Harley-Davidson Saturday, June 7, for a good cause and a great time. The event, which featured top musical talent including rock legends Molly Hatchet and Black Oak Arkansas, helped raise $ 110,440 for Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi (BGCNMS).

It has been less than a year since he bought Southern Thunder Harley-Davidson, but new owner Bob Parsons wanted customers to know just how much he appreciates the riding community and how committed the dealership is to supporting the local area.

The Grand Re-opening Party at Southern Thunder Harley-Davidson was far more than a daylong celebration of motorcycling it was about being a good community partner, said Parsons. Were not here to simply sell motorcycles, we are here to help make this community a better place for everyone. By supporting Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi I believe we are doing just that.

A motorcycle endorsement was good for free concert admission for riders and one passenger. For all others there was a $ 20 requested donation. One-hundred percent of ticket and event tee-shirt sales and 20 percent of all vendor proceeds were designated to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi.

Since 1996, BGCNMS has empowered young people to reach their full potential as caring, productive, responsible citizens. Nearly 2,000 children and teens count on five clubhouses after school and during the summer for safety, hot meals, positive friends and countless opportunities to be great.

The largest donation of the evening, $ 100,000, was presented to BGCNMS by none-other than Bob Parsons himself. In addition to the outright donation, Parsons also announced that The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation will provide funds to remodel three clubhouses that are in dire need of repair.

By addressing the shortcomings of the clubhouses we are helping to create a safe and happy place for the children who need it most, Parsons added.

Parsons and his wife Renee have long supported the work of Boys & Girls Clubs in their home state of Arizona, awarding more than $ 6 million to the organization.

The announcement Saturday evening exceeded our greatest expectations, said BGCNMS Chief People Officer Zell Long. The $ 110,440 donation and commitment to upgrade three of our facilities will have a tremendous impact on the lives of our Club members, board, staff and community stakeholders. As good stewards of the funds and commitment, the good people at Southern Thunder Harley-Davidson and Mr. Bob Parsons can be assured that all will be targeted toward the highest and best uses for the organization. We are humbled and so pleased to be the recipient of such generosity.

Thursday, February 13th, 2014

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 07, 2014

Real Living Lifestyles has a very special group of agents and staff in their Escondido office. The office held their annual White Elephant Auction/Holiday Party last week for the third year in a row. All week agents bring in items to put on display, and at the party they auction them off and donate the proceeds to Interfaith Community Service. Interfaith implements comprehensive programs to provide basic needs, social services, counseling, and economic development to empower the disadvantaged in our community. This year they raised $ 2300 for the Interfaith Community Service.

The agents this year were so proud of what a great success the auction was. “Wow, what a group of fun loving, from the heart, real estate professionals we have in our Escondido office. The festive celebration of the holiday season, was only overshadowed by the Real Living Lifestyles gift of giving from the heart. I have never seen so many people pay so much for white elephant auction items in the spirit of giving to charity,” said real estate agent Steve Webber.

Ken Maculan, another participating agent in the Escondido office commented, We appreciated all the contributions that were collected and our great office spirit to help less fortunate at this time of the year!

Real Living Lifestyles agents believe that their work is not just about houses, it’s about people. At the end of the day what matters most is improving the lifestyles of San Diego residents, and community service is just of the ways this brokerage does that!
