Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) April 08, 2014

Specialty fashion brand, Free People, will open its 93rd retail store with a new boutique in Pittsburgh, PA on May 2nd, 2014. As part of the Urban Outfitters Inc. family, the brand is rooted in Philadelphia, marking the close-to-home opening a special one. Free People will join Pittsburghs high-end shopping center, Ross Park Mall, with a 3,000 square foot space located on the first level near Macys. The brands coveted assortment is sure to offer an eclectic mix of unique fashion for the Pittsburgh customer.

Free People is based out of Philadelphias Naval Yard, and is proud to call Pennsylvania home. Begun in the early 1970s, the brand has grown with the city. As it rapidly expands opening 12 retail stores in 2013 alone Free People stretches its presence to Pittsburgh. This will be the citys second Free People boutique, and the fifth in the state. The other Pittsburgh location in Bakery Square opened in 2011, and has developed a loyal customer base.

“Given the enthusiasm around our first Pittsburgh location in Bakery Square, we are thrilled to be opening our second in Ross Park,” says Free People Director of Retail, Beth Wehagen. “Pittsburgh has such a creative and entrepreneurial spirit and we are excited to be able to bring the brand to more local fans with a larger store footprint.”

At opening, the Ross Park Mall boutique will carry a wide assortment of high summer must-haves for those adventuring to the beach or a summer escape. Easy knits in a soft color palette for the season, will be prominently displayed and complemented by a small splash of ethnic graphics to add color and energy to the assortment. The location will also offer the brands Intimately Free People line of bras, undies, slips, seamless layering pieces, and loungewear.

The new boutique will be complete with a design inspired by Free Peoples globe traveling girl, and the collections that she curates and displays in her home. As shoppers enter, they will be greeted with a hand carved teak cladding and a custom steel store front that surrounds large double wooden doors. The space houses six fitting rooms bedecked with a magnificent starburst lantern installation and patchwork quilt curtains and stools. Other interior finishes include glitter plaster walls, rough sawn wood accents, and slat walls constructed of a beautiful carved wood.

Each Free People store offers personalized shopping experiences from a team of expert stylists. Customers can schedule a one-on-one appointment with their favorite stylist, as well as interact and gain inspiration through the brands online Style Community, FP Me. In addition to offering personal styling, Pittsburgh fans can look forward to a variety of in-store events to be hosted at the Free People Ross Park Mall boutique throughout the year.

The E.Vil Mall Brings a Taste of The East Village in NYC to Internet Shoppers

Saturday, February 8th, 2014

New York City (PRWEB) December 27, 2013

Anyone with an Internet connection can now shop The East Village in New York City. The E.Vil Mall website brings together independent retailers from the storied neighborhood, connecting local purveyors to the $ 1 trillion global eCommerce market.

The standard model for Internet retailing is to forsake the brick-and-mortar storefront. But this startup founded by a former tech executive out of NYU’s Stern School of Business believes the future is local.

The East Village has well established bona fides as a neighborhood. It is the place that spawned Andy Warhol, Lou Reed, legendary club CBGB, The Beastie Boys, and houses The Village Voice. Sixty-five thousand students flock to nearby colleges NYU, Cooper Union, and The New School. They join forty thousand young professionals, a bevy of celebrities, immigrants, street kids, and old-timers to create a neighborhood Wikipedia describes as a “center of counterculture in New York”.

Unlike the neighborhood itself, the independent shops that take root in The East Village largely remain local gems, unknown outside the community. The E.Vil Mall connects the dots, inviting a global clientele to shop the neighborhood.

Consulting giant Deloitte conducts an annual Holiday Spending Survey, and their research concurs that shoppers prefer local. A full 66% of survey respondents intend to shop independent retailers, mostly to support a local economy and find one-of-a-kind gifts. Despite this preference, the study also found that the Internet finally overtook department stores as the number one preferred shopping venue. CEO Jonathan Sterling Hollinger a veteran of Deutsche Banks commercial real estate business and media conglomerate IAC sees opportunity in the paradox.

“We represent a new model for local commerce, bridging the worlds of brick-and-mortar boutiques with online retailing,” says Hollinger. “The East Village has great products and some of the most passionate purveyors anywhere. Keeping it that way depends upon outside money coming into the local economy. That’s what The E.Vil Mall is about. That’s our ecosystem.”

ABOUT THE E.VIL MALL:
