Mack, founder and president of Mack International, the premier retained executive search and family office strategic management/human capital consulting firm, has been selected to co-chair the Opal Financial Group 2014 Family Office & Private Wealth Management Forum: The Race for Returns, to be held July 21- 23 at the Hyatt Regency Newport in Newport, Rhode Island.

The conference is one of Opals premier Private Wealth Series events for high-net-worth individuals and family offices from around the world. Linda C. Mack will co-chair the Forum and present opening remarks with Jason Cavanagh, CEO of the Saint Leonard Family Office (SFO), and Michael Pompian, Partner and Director of Private Wealth Practice, Mercer, LLC.

Some of the most well-established family offices, private investors, money managers and private wealth service providers attend for three days of engaging discussions and peer-to-peer exchanges on not only a spectrum of current investments trends but also a variety of softer issues effecting current and future generations of families, Linda Mack explained.

In addition to co-chairing the conference, Mack will moderate a panel on Wednesday, July 23 titled Operations and technology: Leading edge family office infrastructure and family office reporting. According to Mack, the session will explore key evolving operational reporting and technology trends and the impact of these trends on family offices. We will discuss how ownership structures, asset allocation and client requirements affect reporting needs of single and multi-family-offices, and what considerations these organizations should take into account before embarking on significant technology investment, upgrades or changes, Mack said.

The session will also cover key challenges that single and multi-family-offices face in successfully changing or upgrading reporting technology. Panelists will offer insights into how to best determine the familys core technology and reporting needs; whether resources and expertise exist in-house and when to outsource; security, confidentiality and reliability issues; and how to maintain successful operations during changes, Mack continued.

As with numerous decisions in any family office operation, it is essential that there is agreement and alignment of operational technology decisions with family goals and values, Mack said.

The Forum will also have presentations explore the challenges and opportunities associated with investing in emerging markets, alternative investments, real estate, gold, and numerous other asset classes, and will also include sessions addressing other issues of import to family offices such as office structure, taxation and regulation, risk management, high-impact philanthropy and technology trends.

Opal Financial Group will kick off the event with its Annual Americas Regatta Cup, in which attendees will have the opportunity to work with a professional sailing charter crew while competing against industry peers.

Austin Luxury Homes Brokerage Regent Property Group Releases Luxury Real Estate Statistics July 2013 Report

Boutique Austin luxury homes brokerage Regent Property Group is reporting that 265 homes have sold over the million dollar mark in Austin, Texas year to date (January 1 to July 30, 2013.) The high sold price so far this year is $ 5,860,000 (about $ 755.12 per square foot,) the average sold price is $ 1,599,562 (about $ 320.44 per square foot,) and the median sold price is $ 1,365,000 (about $ 299.03 per square foot.)

Average and median sold prices continue to increase for Austin luxury homes, said Regent Property Group founder Brian Talley. We saw them rise about another $ 20,000 this month, and with days on the market continuing to shrink, we might see even more in the way of price increases.

The average days on the market for luxury homes sold thus far in 2013 is 100, with 44 as the median. The average days on the market for luxury homes sold in June 2013 was 67, with 42 as the median.

Talley commented that these statistics are based upon Multiple Listing Service information and that some of the highest priced homes are sold independently of a listing service. These statistics show us trends, certainly, but there is even more going on in the luxury real estate market than these indicate. Luxury brokers such as Regent often handle private deals that would skew the statistics even higher.

Regent Property Group has proven itself to be a leader in the Austin luxury homes market, across areas: from master-planned resort communities such as Barton Creek to waterfront homes on Lake Austin to golf course frontage homes.

June 2013 saw 46 luxury homes sold, with a high sold price of $ 4,875,000 (about $ 581.81 per square foot,) an average sold price of $ 1,561,126 (about $ 306.23 per square foot,) and a median sold price of $ 1,340,000 (about $ 295.28 per square foot.)

There were 350 Austin luxury homes – properties listed for sale over $ 1 million – in the MLS as of July 30, 2013. The high list price for these homes was $ 14.5 million, with an average list price of about $ 2.38 million (about $ 404 per square foot) and a median list price of $ 1.74 million (about $ 341 per square foot.)

Now Porsche Design Group, in collaboration with Mr. Dezer, has created a high rise oceanfront condo that will take their owner’s cars to the front door. Even the penthouse!

Construction recently began on the 57-story, 132 unit condo tower on Collins Avenue, just north of Miami Beach. This is no ordinary highrise with great views, since one of the views – regardless of which floor owners might live on – will be of their car parked outside the front door. Going home to these condos doesnt require getting out of the car until it’s at the owner’s living room door. Arrival is via a glass elevator rising at 600 per minute above terra firma. The Porsche Condos range in size between 4,300 square feet to over 10,000 square feet and a penthouse over 14,000 square feet, and prices ranging from $ 4.7 to $ 13 million.

According to Robert Walsh, project director at TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, luxury condo construction and sales are booming in Sunny Isles and much of South Florida. Many of the new buildings are experiencing presales as early as two and three years before the completion date. In addition to the Porsche Design Tower, the Mansions at Acqualina is also under construction with 79 units and prices starting at $ 8 million and penthouses from $ 20 million to $ 55 million. Chateau Beach Residences will include 84 homes starting at $ 1.4 million and a two-story penthouse with a private swimming pool for $ 25 million. According to Walsh, all three projects are already over 50% sold out with estimated completion dates between 2014 and 2016.

Jack Klugman’s California Auction

Award winning star of stage, film and television, Jack Klugman is best known for his role in The Odd Couple, one of the 1970s most popular TV shows. Klugman was also a big fan of thoroughbred racing, engaging in breeding and racing his own horses. During this time he built a horse training facility on 40 acres in the wine country of Temecula, California, to train his own horses. When his horse, Jaklin Klugman, came in third in the 1980 Kentucky Derby, he said it was the biggest thrill in his life.

Jack’s Temecula horse breeding and training facility took up most of Klugmans free time so he built an 8,920 square foot Spanish-style home there in the grand old Hollywood tradition. The home has 5 bedrooms and 8 full baths with large spaces for entertaining both indoors and out. The main living area has vaulted beamed ceilings and a large curved staircase to the open second floor. Also on the property are four guest homes, a five hole golf course, pool and cabana, a koi pond, a vet clinic as well as barns, two riding arenas and multiple stalls.

Jack Klugmans thoroughbred ranch was previously listed at $ 12 million. The opening auction bid on July 27th will start at $ 2.99 million.
