Linda C. Mack, founder and president of Mack International, the premier retained executive search and family office strategic management/human capital consulting firm, has been selected to co-chair the Opal Financial Group 2014 Family Office & Private Wealth Management Forum: The Race for Returns, to be held July 21- 23 at the Hyatt Regency Newport in Newport, Rhode Island.

The conference is one of Opals premier Private Wealth Series events for high-net-worth individuals and family offices from around the world. Linda C. Some of the most well-established family offices, private investors, money managers and private wealth service providers attend for three days of engaging discussions and peer-to-peer exchanges on not only a spectrum of current investments trends but also a variety of softer issues effecting current and future generations of families, Linda Mack explained.

In addition to co-chairing the conference, Mack will moderate a panel on Wednesday, July 23 titled Operations and technology: Leading edge family office infrastructure and family office reporting. Panelists will include Mark Wickersham, Director, Netage Solutions, Inc., James Koutoulas, CEO, Typhon Access, Carl Sheeler, Director, Berkeley Research Group, LLC and Melissa Mattison, Vice President, Strategic Solutions.

According to Mack, the session will explore key evolving operational reporting and technology trends and the impact of these trends on family offices. We will discuss how ownership structures, asset allocation and client requirements affect reporting needs of single and multi-family-offices, and what considerations these organizations should take into account before embarking on significant technology investment, upgrades or changes, Mack said.

The session will also cover key challenges that single and multi-family-offices face in successfully changing or upgrading reporting technology. Panelists will offer insights into how to best determine the familys core technology and reporting needs; whether resources and expertise exist in-house and when to outsource; security, confidentiality and reliability issues; and how to maintain successful operations during changes, Mack continued.

As with numerous decisions in any family office operation, it is essential that there is agreement and alignment of operational technology decisions with family goals and values, Mack said.

The Forum will also have presentations explore the challenges and opportunities associated with investing in emerging markets, alternative investments, real estate, gold, and numerous other asset classes, and will also include sessions addressing other issues of import to family offices such as office structure, taxation and regulation, risk management, high-impact philanthropy and technology trends.

Wounded Warrior Run Raises $16,000 For The Walter Reed Warrior Family Coordination Cell

Saturday, August 2nd, 2014

Bethesda, Md. (PRWEB) June 10, 2014

Thanks to the efforts of nearly 600 runners and 80 student volunteers, LMT Inc. and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences Student Spouses Club (SSC) presented a $ 16,000 donation to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Centers Warrior Family Coordination Cell.

On April 26, LMT Inc., a Vienna, Va.-based national security consulting firm, sponsored the 2nd Annual SSC Wounded Warrior Run at the Agricultural History Farm Park in Deerwood, Md.

We ran to care for those in harms way, said Lani Hay, President and CEO of LMT Inc. We ran for their families. And we ran to help those service members who have sacrificed so much and are working on getting well enough to return home from Walter Reed.

Its a cause deeply important and connected to LMT Inc., a mathematics optimization company that helps businesses and government transform otherwise ambiguous data into clear and actionable insight.

For the last decade, LMT Inc.’s team of analysts, many of which are military veterans themselves, have studied the narratives from the frontlines of military operations in Afghanistan to help predict and prevent military troops and civilian communities from getting hurt.

The race, which included a 5K, 10K and Kids Fun Run that wounded warriors and their families also participated in, was entirely organized and managed by volunteers from the Uniformed Services University (USU) of the Health Sciences and their significant others.

One hundred percent of the proceeds benefitted the Walter Reed National Military Medical Centers Warrior Family Coordination Cell.

We wanted to do something meaningful for our members and we couldnt think of a better organization to do that for, said Christine Kempsell, Race Director and spouse of a medical student at USU. We really couldnt have done it without the support of our sponsors and having LMT as the presenting sponsor took us to a whole new level.

The Warrior Family Coordination Cell serves as the central coordinating point between the military branches and commands for all non-medical support for the wounded, ill and injured military service members recovering on the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda campus.

That non-medical support includes working with patients and their families to provide opportunities for them to enjoy wholesome activities on and off the Walter Reed campus during their recovery and reintegration back into society after sustaining serious injuries or illnesses.

Since 2011, the coordination cell has helped manage more than half a million dollars in donated goods and services and coordinated and executed more than 4,700 events, including those at the White House, on Capitol Hill and with the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Thats more than Walter Reed Georgia Ave. and Naval Medical Center Portsmouth have done combined, and four times more than the National Naval Medical Center was accustomed to prior to the latest Base Realignment and Closure Commission decisions.

They also host weekly BBQs as a meet and greet for the families to get to know other, to get to know other people who are in the same situation as they are, Kempsell said.

Couldnt make the run? Donations are still accepted online.

Hot Celebrity Home News: Katharine Hepburn’s Family Home in Connecticut For Sale at $14.8 Million

Friday, July 4th, 2014

Pompano Beach, FL (PRWEB) May 29, 2014

Charming, genteel and with her passion for life and work barely contained under her sophisticated manner, Katharine Hepburn was one of those remarkable women with a style of her own and a mind of her own who lived life her own way. The common denominator that propelled her work to excellence and her heady relationships with the great loves of her life such as Spencer Tracy was passion. She expressed it in other ways too, when in 1939, she designed a charming seaside home to be built on family-owned land in the Fenwick neighborhood of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, on the banks of Long Island Sound. The family had owned the land since 1913, which had been settled as early as the 1600s. Today, it is a community of 83 homes and well known for its golf, swimming and boating.

This is the home where Katharine spent her summers, but lived there full-time for seven years until her death at the age of 96 in 2003. One can’t help but grin at the photograph of Katharine standing next to her beloved Keep Out sign at the home’s entrance. It was so Katharine. Perfectly situated and private, from the Long Island Sound side there are views of the dock, protective jetties and the Saybrook Breakwater Lighthouse marking the entrance to the Connecticut River. Across from the entrance are three acres of conservation land with a large pond. Consisting of 15 nautically inspired rooms in the 8,368-square-foot home, everything is white, sunny and spacious with six bedrooms and eight baths and with superb views out of every window. There are seven fireplaces to keep it cozy and expansive porches and verandas to take in the views.

Katharine’s home tastefully combines the feeling of beach house and permanent home. Even though the original house was destroyed by a hurricane in 1938 and rebuilt by Katharine, the rebuild and later total renovation holds special charm and retains historical features. It was further completely renovated in 2005 by New York builder Frank Sciame.

Katharine Hepburns Old Saybrook home with private beach, dock and over 680 feet of shoreline on Long Island Sound, previously listed at $ 28 million, now priced at $ 14.8 million. The listing agent is Colette Harron of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty.
