YUE Magazine, a preeminent Chinese-English lifestyle magazine founded by Chiu-Ti Jansen and Jared Kushners Observer Media Group, is pleased to announce that its Publisher Chiu-Ti Jansen will be receiving the Trailblazer Award from the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Northeast Chapter (USPAAC-NE) on April 24. The Third Annual Top Ten Asian American Business Awards ceremony will take place at the Auditorium of Morgan Stanley Worldwide Headquarters at 1585 Broadway in New York City.
The Top Ten Asian American Business Awards also known as the Business Oscars for the Asian American business community is the most prestigious Pan Asian American business award program in the Northeast Region. The award program honors Asian entrepreneurs with outstanding leadership, vision and accomplishments who have built a sustainable business and simultaneously support a business community. Winners of the program will also participate in the national Fast 50 Award program at USPAACC annual national event CelebrAsian on June 3-5, 2013 in California.
According to Chiu-Ti Jansen, Being a foreigner has been a defining experience in my life, so when I started my own business CHINA HAPPENINGS I wanted to make it part of my mission to explore, in depth, the creative energy that one draws from encountering another culture. Being an entrepreneur is not only about being ones own master, but also about living beyond our pre-conceived categorization of talents, professions and geographies. I want to be in a business that allows me to be artistic and business-minded, creative and analytical, Western and Chinese–all at the same time.
Reflecting on making up her new world, Chiu-Ti Jansen said, when I retired from a covetable partner position at a major Wall Street law firm in 2010, many thought it was the most challenging time to start a new business. I knew it would not be easy to give up the shield of a big corporate letterhead and establish new credentials from scratch. But I have never looked back since. Now I carve out my own roles and live by my own designs. I am a TV presenter, a publisher and a writer. I am also a business owner. I am involved with many charitable organizations and cultural institutions. Every day presents a new set of challenges and, along with it, a new set of opportunities. This Award is humbling–it reminds me that it is my privilege to lend voice to Asian Americans under-represented cultural and artistic accomplishments.
The Top Ten Asian Business Awards counts many Fortune 500 corporations including Morgan Stanley, Citibank, HSBC, Merck, UPS, and Time Warner as its sponsors. Chiu-Ti Jansen will be joining the ranks of past award winners Collabera, Netcom Learning, A & Z Pharmaceuticals as well as leading Asian non-profit organizations such as the AAARI. The Top Ten Asian Business Awards recognizes Asian-owned companies with the fastest revenue growth over the last three years.

Members and guests of the NAPW Orange County, NY Local Chapter gathered on February 21st for a professional networking meeting at Cosimos Brick Oven Pizza, 620 Route 211 East, Middletown.
The event was the Chapters official launch meeting and featured guest speaker Myriam Bouchard from the Small Business Development Center that serves the mid-Hudson region. The expert shared her smart strategies for small businesses with the group of professional women.
The launch meeting was originally planned for January but the snow kept everyone from getting together, said NAPW Orange County Local Chapter President Aleen Hosdaghian.
But our February meeting was a great launch that kick started the year and got the Orange County Chapter off to a great start!
The Chapter President opened the meeting with a welcoming introduction and an overview of NAPW. She discussed the goals of the Orange County Chapter, which is to Learn, Network, and Grow. She then turned the meeting over to the speaker, Myriam Bouchard.
Little did we know it was a jazz night at the restaurant! said the President. It added an interesting mix to our launch meeting to have a background jazz band however. With the smooth beats in the background, we learned about handling small businesses from Myriam.
Attendees nibbled on fresh brick oven pizza while listening to how to handle time in a world where people are constantly multitasking.
In her presentation Everything you Need to Know About Your Small Business, Myriam offered attendees a wealth of information, including providing small business resources such as Federal and New York State requirements for small businesses, Aleen said. She shared success stories with the group of professional women and distributed numerous printed materials that were filled with helpful information.
Myriam spoke about how to manage your accounting, and reviewed the Six Cs of Credit:

Manhattan, NY (PRWEB) December 30, 2012
Bright Lights Business issued a statement noting the many new retail outlets that opened in areas throughout the city this week as industry professionals weigh in on their top choices for best retail newcomers in 2012.
Store owners joined real estate professionals, bloggers, writers and publicists in offering up their opinion on the many new retail outlets in the city this past year. Many of the names that popped up can be found in popular shopping areas, including Charlotte Olympia on Madison Avenue and Massimo Dutti on Fifth Avenue as well as Ad Hoc in Williamsburg.
Bright Lights Business is excited to see the continued growth of these popular areas, which are some of the hottest areas of the city. The openings of several boutiques by young designers also pleases BLB, who sees the opening of Nicholas Kirkwood’s shop in the Meatpacking District and Charlotte Olympia Dellal in the Upper East Side as proof that these areas continue to be well suited to the young and trendy crowds that regularly flock in for shopping and restaurant experiences, as well as a taste of New York nightlife.
The Meatpacking District is considered one of the hottest areas of NYC, with a multitude of shopping, restaurant and nightlife options that continually draw in both local and celebrity crowds. EMM Group, co-owned by Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm, owns several popular restaurants and nightclubs in the district and have been credited with helping the area grow to what it is today.
As the year comes to an end many people are reflecting on the year that was and those in the retail industry are no exception. With many new shopping choices in 2012 those in the industry have noted that many of the best shops are still seeking out areas such as the Meatpacking District and Madison Ave. for their new store front.
