Store owners joined real estate professionals, bloggers, writers and publicists in offering up their opinion on the many new retail outlets in the city this past year. Many of the names that popped up can be found in popular shopping areas, including Charlotte Olympia on Madison Avenue and Massimo Dutti on Fifth Avenue as well as Ad Hoc in Williamsburg.
Bright Lights Business is excited to see the continued growth of these popular areas, which are some of the hottest areas of the city. The openings of several boutiques by young designers also pleases BLB, who sees the opening of Nicholas Kirkwood’s shop in the Meatpacking District and Charlotte Olympia Dellal in the Upper East Side as proof that these areas continue to be well suited to the young and trendy crowds that regularly flock in for shopping and restaurant experiences, as well as a taste of New York nightlife.
The Meatpacking District is considered one of the hottest areas of NYC, with a multitude of shopping, restaurant and nightlife options that continually draw in both local and celebrity crowds. EMM Group, co-owned by Mark Birnbaum and Eugene Remm, owns several popular restaurants and nightclubs in the district and have been credited with helping the area grow to what it is today.
As the year comes to an end many people are reflecting on the year that was and those in the retail industry are no exception. With many new shopping choices in 2012 those in the industry have noted that many of the best shops are still seeking out areas such as the Meatpacking District and Madison Ave. for their new store front.
