PGA National, One of Waterfront Properties Big Real-Estate Draws, To Have Celebrity Golf Benefit

JUPITER, Fla. (PRWEB) December 11, 2012

The Hospice of Palm Beach County Foundation will Party with the Stars on Dec. 14 at PGA National.

From 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., a cocktail reception will take place in conjunction with the fourth-annual Swing with the Stars Celebrity Pro-Am Golf Tournament on Dec. 15. Proceeds will benefit Hospice of Palm Beach Countys programs and services.

Hospice of Palm Beach County is a nonprofit provider of end-of-life care for area residents and offers a wide range of programs that aid adults, children and families in dealing with the death of a loved one. The goal of the foundation is to generate resources, raise money and recruit volunteers for the organization.

Party with the Stars will feature a sassy and spunky speakeasy theme and will offer fine food and signature drinks. Cost to attend is $ 250.

Silent-auction items guests can bid on include luxury spa packages, vacation stays, exquisite jewelry, golf outings and a backstage tour of NBCs Today show. Matt Lauer, the celebrity host of Today, has strong ties to Hospice of Palm Beach County, as his late father, Jay Lauer, was cared by its nurses before his death. For several years after that, the younger Lauer sponsored a memorial golf tournament at The Breakers in Palm Beach that teemed with sports celebrities.

Swing with the Stars gets underway at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 15 and will include a host of local notables, including Olin Browne, who lives in Hobe Sound, Mark Calcavecchia, who owns riverfront Property in Tequesta, and Michelle McGann, who grew up in one of the beachy homes on Singer Island. Cost to play is $ 1,000, which includes a pair of tickets to the previous nights festivities.

The golf tournament is limited to 100 players and will take place on the newly redesigned Fazio course. The Fazio course is one of five offered at the Palm Beach Gardens development and previously was named The Haig in honor of PGA legend Walter Hagen.

Following a complimentary breakfast that will be served at 7 a.m., golfers will have a chance to win cash prizes during the exciting helicopter ball drop. A luncheon and awards ceremony will follow the day of play.

Other professional golfers signed up to play include Beth Bader, Jean Bartholomew, Bob Murphy, Alena Sharp and Jackie Gallagher Smith. Football standout Steve Walsh also will participate.
