Lim Gallery Opens for San Francisco Open Studios

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 29, 2012

The Lim Gallery will be part of San Francisco’s 2012 Open Studios this October, with a stunning contribution from the private collection of the local Bay Area artist, Jan Siegel.

Lim Gallery is proud to open for San Francisco Open Studios, the oldest and largest open studios program in the country. The program, which features an annual, month-long art event every October, will showcase over 900 emerging and established San Francisco artists in studios around the city. This month, the Lim Gallery will host the private collection of deceased artist Jan Siegel, which contains fine works of art and drawings spanning a career of over 40 years.

The collection, which will consist of multiple exhibits, features the poignant works with themes ranging from the beach, the homeless, and downtown business men. Chris Lim, founder of the gallery, is excited to bring this collection to the gallery: “I’m very pleased to open the 2012 San Francisco Open Studios with Jan Siegel’s private collection of portraits. This is Jan’s most personal work, including family members, friends, and loved ones. I’m excited to offer these stunning figurative oil and acrylic works of art that tell a personal narrative for the first time in over 20 years.”

As a passionate art enthusiast, Chris Lim, who began his career selling San Francisco real estate with Climb Real Estate Group, has pursued a goal of bringing the best in art, interior design, coffee table books, and culture to the public eye. After retiring from the sales of condominiums and lofts in the greater San Francisco area in March of 2010, Chris wanted to pursue other interests that he had not been previously been able to pursue. The gallery director who works part-time in marketing, now has the time to focus on his gallery space. He says, The gallery’s mission is to resuscitate the often

forgotten power of emotion through art in the modern era. In our busy lives, where work and social needs often take preference, there is less and less time and consideration spent on the visual arts.

The Lim Gallery, which is based in Potrero Hill, plans to showcase a new artist each month within the Subculture Contemporary movement, which draws influence from street culture, urban environments, independent music, architecture, graphic design, zines, illustration and pop culture. Focusing on the themes of global affairs, technology, culture and design, the gallery is looking to reinvigorate interest for the arts, not only as visual works, but as powerful political and social statements.

As one of the meccas for artists in the United States, the San Francisco Bay Area has a plethora of artist communities to feature, and the Lim Gallery is looking to create an ongoing relationship with patrons and art enthusiasts alike. In coming months, the gallery will exhibit a range of modern and contemporary paintings, coveted and rare art books, as well as photography, and printmaking. As a unique model, the gallery will challenge artists to utilize the entire gallery space for their exhibitions, in the hopes of providing a new and unexpected gallery experience every time to its visitors.
